Michelle Armbrust To All Instructors

"I loved playing school to my invisible students as a young child and working with young children in church settings as a teenager. After having the opportunity to help in two fourth grade classes as a senior in high school, I decided teaching was the career I wanted to pursue.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in early childhood development in 2002, and completed a teacher licensure program at Christopher Newport University in 2004. I taught in pre-k-2nd grade classes for several years, and have experience teaching kids to identify letters and numbers all the way to reading simple chapter books and adding larger numbers on their own.   When I had my own children, I set aside formal classroom teaching to be home with them. I have been homeschooling my two children for ten years, often with help from programs like Homeschool Plus.

I believe learning should be fun, and I enjoy finding ways for my students to learn through hands-on activities and games. As an avid reader, I desire to pass on my love for books to my students both by reading to them and getting them ready to read on their own.

I love Jesus, am a Bible and theology nerd, and a reluctant writer. My time spent in Bible study compels me to share my insights with friends online. It will likely spill over into the classroom as well. My greatest desire is to see children grasp the love of Jesus and pass that on to others. Education plays a vital role in helping them learn to communicate the Truth to the world!"
